New room for under $220 !!

Its almost finished - Our new bedroom ! I have been dying to paint our bedroom for a while now, and we attacked it this weekend! - I primed the walls on Sat. night, and my husband finished painting it a light/grayish blue on Sunday. (I took the kids and ran out to Target and bought new bedding, a new lamp shade, and new curtains) (*thought - I still need to buy a bed skirt, and another lamp for his night stand....) I love the room!!!!! -- Its completely different from what we had before - a green & brown, dark room that looked like our living room (same colors). I was so sick of retreating up to my bedroom at the end of the night, and being in the same colors I was in the entire day downstairs!! I felt like I had spent the entire day in the same freakin' room! LOL

We hung out in the bedroom and swiffered, and dusted etc. last night, and I asked my DH (dear husband) what he thought about the room.......

Me - "What do you like best about the room"

DH - pause ----- "Uhmmm , how CLEAN it is!"

Me - "What?" ... "are you serious?" ...."No, what do you like about the new room?"

DH - pause ---"Uhmmm, the ceiling fans"

Me -- "What?" ..."are you serious?" .. "They are the SAME ceiling fans?, what are you talking about???"

DH --"Well, they are finally CLEAN!"

Me -- "ARE YOU SERIOUS!" ..."what about all the new items in the room, the beachy theme?"

DH --"ya, I really like the color"

----------

This just proves, I have a simple man. (and that obviously, he must want me to clean more!) LOL, but I knew he loved the bedding, and the new items in the room. He especially loved the fact I only spent about $220 total, and that's including the paint!!! WHOO HOO

Oh, I love my Rosie child

Aw, Cracklin' Rosie, get on board
We're gonna ride
Till there ain't no more to go
Taking it slow
And Lord, don't you know
We'll have me a time with a poor man's lady
Hitchin' on a twilight train
Ain't nothing here that I care to take along
Maybe a song
To sing when I want
No need to say please to no man
For a happy tune

Oh, I love my Rosie child
You got the way to make me happy
You and me we go in style
Cracklin' Rose,
You're a store-bought woman
But you make me sing like a guitar hummin'
So hang on to me, girl,
Our song keeps runnin' on
Play it now, play it now
Play it now, my baby
Cracklin' Rosie, make me a smile
Girl, if it lasts for an hour, that's all right
We got all night to set the world right
Find us a dream that don't ask no questions
Yeah

Oh, I love my Rosie child
You got the way to make me happy
You and me we go in style
Cracklin' Rose,
You're a store-bought woman
But you make me sing like a guitar hummin'
So hang on to me, girl
Our song keeps runnin' on
Play it now, play it now

A Thousand Words Thursday

A Thousand Words Thursday -brought to you by the blog -
Here is my contribution to this Thousand Words Thursday.........
Its a pic of my daughter on her 1st Birthday party eating her green frog cake. I have vowed that I will always MAKE their Bdy cakes myself. (For all of you who don't know, I am a "caker" by heart. -see my post from last month - The Crazy Cake Lady - MIA?)
Talula really LOVED her cake, she really got "into" it.
Thanks Jen for creating such a FUN Thursday post!!

Diet, what diet??? Okay, I really need to get a diet.

What diets have you tried??? .... What diets work?, what diets make you gain MORE? ... There are so many diets out there right now, which one should I choose?? .... hmmmmmmm -- Well , its certainly not the "Let me stay up until midnight w/my girlfriends, gabbing, and finishing 3 bottles of wine" diet!!!! That one is not dropping any lbs for me, but HELL, it was a lot of fun!

My girlfriends and I (5 of us total) met up last night at our friends NEW (HUGE) house, and we finished 3 bottles of wine, 1 bottle of Stoli Raspberry, 1 BBQ Pizza, 1 Buff. Chicken Dip, 1 Fiesta Taco Salad, and a few yummy chocolate brownie/cheesecake creations. Oh ya, there were a few chicken fingers thrown in there too!!! .......... I must have gained 7lbs just in that short period of time. But - it was worth every pound! ..

We laughed, we spilled a few drinks, and we confessed to a few secrets that we have NEVER shared before in all the years we've been friends.

It was a good night!

It was a much needed girl time away from my dear family who I love immensely, even though, I basically RAN out of my house w/the kids tugging onto my legs!!

Okay, anywhoooo --back to the matter at hand, THE POUNDS. -- I have been prego for almost 4 yrs and I am finally DONE. My family is here, and now the real work needs to begin. Everyone says "it takes 9 months to put on, its going to take 9 months to come off" . But really - what happens if its been 4 yrs??? ... is it going to take 4 freakin' years to come off??? It better NOT! ... although, it doesn't come off on its own, right? ...Will it come off even if I only go to the gym every 6 wks? ... uhmmmm NO.

That's it -from this day forward...... its time to get my BUTT in gear!!!!! Yup, I am not going to constantly THINK about food.

hmmmm........ whats for breakfast?

TOY RECALLS

I am disgusted by the amount of toy recalls there are now. Most of them due to the lead paint factor. I feel as if I am searching our toy room on a weekly basis and throwing out the toys due to the lead paint levels in them. WHY are the companies allowing lead paint on children's products in the 1st place???? Common sense!? .... Its not like these products have been made in the 1950's, when we didn't realize how much lead paint can effect children's health.... its 2008! --- seriously WTF?

Here is the ENORMOUS LIST of "TOY HAZARD RECALLS" - and if you click on any of the items on the list, most of them have MULTIPLE items included.... AWFUL!

Ahhhhh Home from Vaca

Well, we just spent a quick mini vacation in Wareham, Ma w/the kids, and 2 other couples (close friends of ours) who have kids as well. It was a great weekend. There was 7 kids under the age of 4yrs old! AND -- all the kids got along very well, can you believe it?!!! There is just something about salt water, sand, and sun, that gets everyone in a great mood.

Even after 3 long showers, the kids still have sand in their hair.(that will be on my to-do list today 1)get sand out of kids hair) There is dirty laundry covering my entire 1st floor of my house, that needs to get done today. 2) do the mounds of laundry that are still in the bags. And at some point, I ran out of almost all my baby formula. I am done to my last bottle of formula for the babe. *thought -might break open the powder formula I have in my cabinet. 3)buy baby formula. Frig is empty .. of course, I never buy food before I leave for vaca -so we are down to the bare minimum. 4) have to figure out something for dinner -maybe something frozen?

My DH (dear husband) and I, and the 3 kids all slept in the same room, which seems to be the way we do it, when we are away from home. So surprisingly we are getting this down pat now! Of course, I am on edge the entire night waiting for one of them to get up and wake the others up.... so I am continuously giving the baby her pacifier, and re-tucking the kids in, while my son talks in his sleep, and my daughter is snoring up a storm. Needless to say I didn't sleep at all, but I laid there, (exhausted) and realized there was no other place I would rather be..... These people in this room, are my favorite people in the world!

All 3 kids were in bed, asleep by 6:45pm last night, and I fell asleep soon after... We all slept the entire night -even the babe! She woke up at 5:30 am for a bottle, and was back asleep in no time! Kids woke up at 7:30 am.

Its a HOT day out here, humid, and sticky.... good day to stay indoors in the AC and keep our pj's on, and do the laundry!

Ahhhh home from Vaca ..................................

Scott Baio is 46 and pregnant!

Scott Baio is 46 ...and pregnant! -- Okay... so I stumbled across this VH1 hit, the other night. Our fave 80's hunk - Scott Baio is now married (finally) and his wife recently had a baby. After only seeing a few episodes, I am hooked. I had a smile on my face almost the entire time watching it. This show is a freakin riot!

Who would have thought, our Charles in Charge - was so insecure ??? Here is the sum up of the story line for the show -

"At the end of season one of Scott Baio is 45 AND SINGLE, Scott revealed to his girlfriend Renee that he was finally ready to get married. Renee delivers some shocking news of her own -- she's pregnant. Scott's world is instantly turned upside down. On the advice of Doc Ali, Scott joins a DADDY TO BE CLASS, which sends him on a quest of accomplishing life tasks in preparation for impending fatherhood. Between hiring baby nurses, wedding planners, buying a bigger house to accommodate his growing brood, Scott is confronted with immense life changes. Scott is more than a decade and a half behind his peer group - most men his age are sending their kids go off to college, having affairs, and buying convertibles. Instead, SCOTT BAIO IS 46...PREGNANT AND ENGAGED." - VH1

Motherless Daughter

Well, today would have been my mother's 70th Birthday. July 14th . Its been 11 1/2 yrs since she passed away, and I still miss her dearly. I miss everything about her. I wish I could have asked her all about parenting, and wrote down all the advice she could dish out. But I was young, and I didn't. I still have so many things to talk to her about, so many things to ask her.... I sit here now, typing this with tears rolling down my face. She passed away of Cancer when she was a young 58 yrs old. She was an artist. Her paintings hang in all of her children's homes, and admired by many. I remember her most for her strength. She was just a very strong woman in so many ways. She was a "tough cookie" as they used to say. She would tell it like it is, and never bit her tongue. She was kind, and loving and very very special to me.

I only wish that I can live a long life for my children, and be able to see my children get married and have children of their own. I can't imagine my daughters with out me. Boys usually learn to live, and move on, and cope better. Girls seem to loose a piece of their soul when their mother dies. And I do not wish that on them. I do not wish that sadness. There was a book I read after my mother died called "Motherless Daughters" and the title sort of explains it all. No matter how old you are, when you loose your mother, the feeling is the same.

God, I thought this would get easier ..........................................

Did you feed her a bottle?

Did U feed her a bottle? Did she wake up and I didn't hear her? --- NOPE !!! -- she slept right through the night!!!!!!!!! YAY!!!!! My almost 12 wk old little one, just yet again amazed me. "She is soo good" we say to everyone, but she really really is. She just slept through the night yet again! - I woke up at 5 am, to hear her making some quiet little noises, so I went down made her a 5 oz bottle of formula and came back upstairs to look into her crib to find her sounds asleep! I am writing this post at 6:10 right now, and she is still asleep, the bottle is now considered OLD, so that is a waste, but who cares, she is still asleep!!!!! YAY, way to go little girlfriend!

My house is quiet. My 2 toddlers are sound asleep still - (prob. because my 3 yr old refused a nap yesterday). And my husband has already left for work, I just had a bowl of cereal, and already took a shower.

This day is starting off MUCH better then yesterday!!!! WHOO Hoooo

Could they actually crawl back inside?

Could they actually crawl back inside? - really? ... there are days they just want to be attached to me. Literally. The minute I sit my big butt down on the couch, they either are on my lap, or so close to me that they are sitting on my arms! ??? ... Right now, as I type this, my son is sitting ON the computer desk, and my daughter is behind me IN my chair. They are happy, and smiling the entire time, - they think this is funny?! ?? Some days aren't this "close", other days are very clingy. I guess this is normal for toddlers to react this way when the mom brings home a new baby. Right?? But seriously, some days, I think they actually want to crawl back inside!

"SORRY folks - NO VACANCY! This little apartment you all rented for the last 3 years is now closed and not accepting any more applicants."

You all know what I mean! -- When you want to go the bathroom by yourself, and they seem to not understand the meaning of privacy! I no longer can pee by myself w/out someone watching me wipe! ?? Why would they want to be in the bathroom w/me? I never remember following my mother into the bathroom? .... is this the IN thing to do now a days? Do they discuss this w/their other toddler friends and think its cool? LOL -- What the hell!

(Now my 2 1/2 yr old daughter who has just started using the big girl potty by herself (only after she FELL OFF the toilet determined to do it herself)... is now saying "I need privacy" when I am in there trying to help her. Do you think she's heard that enough from me, huh? ... she is asking for privacy at 2 1/2 yrs old!!!! ???? And my response is - "No you don't, I am your mother!" but -- she's a girl, and I guess she does?!!! --- She's got my stubborn personality, and I love her for that! )
